Social Involvement Increasing among Cikal Students through CAS Exhibition

Jakarta, January 29th, 2020. Sekolah Cikal Setu recently has successfully conducted CAS (creativity, Art, and Service) exhibition on January 28th, 2020. Under the theme of "Humanitarian Actions that Speaks" MYP students from IB (International Baccalaureate) Program at Sekolah Cikal Setu, East Jakarta to initiate projects related to social services. 

Core Subject to Wider Community 

As the celebration of learning, students are enthusiastic in developing their creative project that has been impacting the community. CAS Exhibition is also a pathway to present students as a subject within the educational system.

"CAS (Creativity, activity dan Service) is an IB core subject for year 11 and year 12. Students are obligatory to do some social services, either doing an internship, making project, or teaching voluntary for 18 months." Nisa, CAS Coordinator, said.

Competencies that reflect on Cikal Vision 

As History, Social and Cultural Anthropology in the Middle Years (MYP) Program Sekolah Cikal Setu, Nisa explained that students are eager to develop their potential through CAS. "The lessons learnt within CAS are the interpersonal skill with Cikal internal people and external people." She said. 

She also added that CAS was the creative idea that coming from students itself. "CAS Project at Sekolah Cikal Setu is the initiative of students, they are enthusiast to do a project out of their time at school," she added. 

Afterwards, as a community of lifelong learners, Cikal believes that CAS Exhibition was reflected on 5 Stars Competencies. "One of the Cikal aims in 5 Stars Competencies is Empowering member of just, sustainability and peaceful Global Society. Students are encouraged to develop their competencies, for instance, caring. They should raise awareness, not only of themselves but also of the people around them." She said. (sfa)
