Three Students Sekolah Cikal Surabaya Win Golden Tickets to  World Scholar's Cup (WSC), Yale University

Leandra Mazel Nurhadityo, Ayunda Damai Fatmarani, and Nadya Anjani Putri Danardono have officially won the golden tickets to Yale University after winning the World Scholar's Cup (WSC) Global Round taken place on September 6th-11th, 2019 in Manila, Philippines. WSC Global Round is an international academic competition that has been partaken by 1500 students from over the 30 countries in the world. 

Within this competition, the team has obtained more than 22 medals after participating in several academic subjects, such like, Social Sciences, History, as well as art. They will be prepared for the next chapter of competition which will be held on November 8th-13th, 2019 at Tournament of Champions in Yale University, United States (USA). 

"It is unbelievable that we can get the ticket to Yale University since our target is only passing on every phase of competition with our best." Damai said on Jumat (27/9)

It is officially explained within the official website of World Scholar's Cup that every student will be partaking of several phases such as Scholar's Debate where every team from each school and country will argue motions related to the theme; Scholar's Bowl in which the team will answer the questions using a special clicker, as well as Collaborative Writing where the team will argue in written form about the issue related, and also Scholar's Challenge where the team will have an opportunity to join the individual test in multiple subjects.

"By joining WSC, we learnt about how to manage our time. We are not only answering the question clearly and right, but also  we have to be rapid in answering the question. despite of that, we always train ourselves to analyze the question quickly and correctly." Nadya said. 

So captivating is the way that Cikal students are always chosen to answer the question. Leandra explained that the most challenging moment is when they have to encounter the Vietnam and India team as their debate partner. " We are always chosen to be the one who agree in the topic given. This is so challenging as we need to find the right argument to defeat our opponent." Leandra said. 

The three topics given by the opponents are That every school principal should spend a month of the year working as janitorThat science fiction should guide the inventors of new enabling technologies, That social media has made it easier to marginalized people.

When asked to tell about their experience and their best moment. The three Cikal Students emphasized that they learnt to understand the different character within themselves. "This competition teaches us to be confident in our competence. We should be fearless and believe that we have prepared for the best" Nadya said.
