Université Rennes 2 Student Visited Sekolah Cikal Cilandak

Jakarta, February 17th 2020. A student from the Master of Education Program Université Rennes 2, France, Inès Plessis Ouzariah visited Sekolah Cikal Cilandak for doing observation about educational learning approach run at Cikal for her thesis. During seven days, February 10th-14th, 2020, she visited some classes that have been presenting different learning approach and strategy.

Knowing Cikal in Canada

She had been travelling around the world in doing observation towards the various type of school and learning approaches. "Last year, I came to Canada. I have done my observation for about 5 months there," she said. While she asked how can she knows Cikal, She emphasis that a Canadian teacher told her about A school in Jakarta whose learning approaches is different and unconventional.

"When I was in Canada, a teacher told me that there are interesting pedagogical approaches in Jakarta called Cikal. At that time, I directly visited Cikal's website to know about Cikal. I found that Cikal at that time will be a destination of choice for me. I read About us information and I enjoy the words used to describe Cikal as "lifelong learners". I'm also interested in Cikal 5 stars competencies promoting both learning and emotional well-being. that is why it would be an honour to observe Cikal School's pedagogical approaches.

Dina Sari, as Vice-Principal of Sekolah Cikal Cilandak, elucidates that Sekolah Cikal welcomed Ines coming to Cikal. "As part of the life long learner community, we consider every moment as opportunities to learn from one another. So we are greatly appreciated and honoured to be visited by Ms Inez. Among schools around Jakarta, she chose to visit us. We also do hope that she can make the most of her time in Cikal Cilandak to come into any information necessary and valuable to be used in her study. In all of her time here, we hope that it can be depicted the personalized approach that we apply to our students." she explained.

Sekolah Cikal, School for future leaders 

Dina Sari also said that teachers are glad for having Inès getting into their class. "Our teachers have been welcoming with open arms of Ms Inèz observation. They respect the process of observation that Ms Inès did in class. There are times when the students are asking questions to Ms Inèz, as curious as students can be, and she gladly answers them. One of the teachers also elaborates more of how we collect students’ evidence in learning in Cikal, as she shared the form of our student digital portfolio to ms. Inèz." she said.

On her last day of the visit, Ines explained her satisfaction during her observation. "I am so glad to be here, so grateful that Cikal has given me the chance to do observation. For me, Cikal is preparing children for the future, making them a great leader that can give more impact to society, Indonesia. Thank you for Cikal has been so heart-warming and kind to visit and observe for my thesis." (sfa)
