Suara Murid Cikal - Jemima Jasmine, Year 11 Sekolah Cikal Serpong

Mother. You are a gem that has been presented to our little family. A gem in which we are more than lucky enough to be stuck with; the one who completes our bunch. To say that I’m blessed doesn’t even begin to describe how grateful I am to be born into a universe where someone as extraordinary as you awaits me. Since our first moment together, you have always continued to welcome me into your arms. Every strenuous moment that I come across, you are always there to keep me in your shell, reminding me that those moments will pass. Your presence alone is more than enough to remind me how fortunate I am to have you in my life.

Mother. You have bestowed me with your wisdom, giving me lessons that have shaped me to be the person that I am today. You have taught me many, but most importantly, you have taught me to be grateful, and, as I grew, I was able to further understand the importance of it. Your lesson of gratitude has guided me to days that are full of meaning, and a life that is worthwhile. With that knowledge being, I’m able to constantly be reminded of the blessing that is my life with such a wonderful family. All the more, the lessons you have taught me are ones that I’ll continue to use for the days to come.

“Mother, you are my lifelong best friend. You are my heart and you bring life to my soul. An “I love you” would be an understatement, and a simple “thank you” would never be enough to repay the wonderful life that you have brought for me.”

Mother. You have continuously brought balance to the mess that is my life. With all the despair that I continue to stumble upon in my days, you are one of the ones to who I can always run back. You are the light that guides me when I’m stranded in the darkness, the one who have always picked me up whenever I stumble, and your arms are the place that I can always find my way back to whenever I’ve lost my way home. A world without you is one that I can never bear the thought of.

Mother. You have loved me endlessly, fulfilling my life with the utmost support. Not a moment goes by where I don’t regret the days I took that for granted. During days when our relationship is facing its downs, and all the hardships that come between our relationship - we’ll always go through all the despair together. Besides, as furious as we can be with each other, I could never imagine the thought of going through my day without you. Because for me, in a way somehow, the universe will always find a way to bring me back to you; to remind me of how everything you do, you do it for love.

Mother. You have come into my life and filled my days with eternal joy. Every moment that I’ve spent with you is one that I’ll cherish for the rest of my days - it’s impossible to choose just one unforgettable moment. You have always been there to be my home, a place where you will comfort me; where I would laugh and blubber, and you would do the same. After my harrowing days, you have and will always be the place where I can tell my stories of sorrow and delight. You have given me room to learn and grow, and in return, I can only hope that I’m able to blossom into a person who’ll be able to make you as happy as you make me.

Mother, you are my lifelong best friend. You are my heart and you bring life to my soul. An “I love you” would be an understatement, and a simple “thank you” would never be enough to repay the wonderful life that you have brought for me. Therefore, what I can do for now is to write you this letter - one where I’m able to be reminded yet again of how lucked out I am to have you as my mother.

My beautiful mother, these words are for you. Today, and every day, we toast to you.

Happy Mother’s day. You deserve the universe.

Writer’s Profil

Hello there! I’m Jemima, an 11th-grade student here at Cikal, and it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I’m one who enjoys spending her time reading novels and watching situational comedies, and I have such a passion for writing; I often use it as a medium where I’m able to express my emotions and perceive excerpts from this life journey of mine. I wrote this piece in celebration of Mother’s Day, in the form of a letter to my mother. I hope that this writing finds you well, and I really hope that you all enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
